In a large-scale review of more than 400 previous studies, mindfulness was identified as an effective mental health practice for helping almost all people improve their physical and psychological well-being.

Simple techniques are often the most powerful. One of the simplest and most powerful is conscious, connected breathing, a technique that lies at the root of a wide variety of spiritual practices that raise energy to higher levels of vibrancy.

Transformative Breathwork is a direct application of conscious, connected breathing. For about an hour, you lie on your back and sustain a full and flowing breath through an open mouth. You actively breathe in by lifting the upper chest, then exhale naturally with the intention to completely relax and let go.

 

As you breathe, you will be guided to connect the in-breaths and out-breaths. At the top of the inhalation, you move directly into the exhale. As soon as your exhalation completes, you move directly into the next in-breath, keeping the muscles of the throat relaxed to open the air passage to maximum airflow. That’s really all there is to this on the level of technique.

This is a powerful type of health exercise and healing practice that has been part of traditional Chinese medicine for centuries. It is based on repetitions of very precise sets of movements, specifically designed to benefit health on many different levels.

It is easy to learn and enjoyable to do. Even a few minutes of practise can have an invigorating and rejuvenating effect, lowered stress and anxiety, increased focus, and improved balance and flexibility.
